Located right in the heart of the Irvine Spectrum Center, this hotel will include 271 high tech guest rooms, 50 suites with full kitchens, 9,000 sq. ft. indoor meeting room area, 4,000 sq.ft. event lawn, 5,000 sq. ft. rooftop bar and event space, pool and spa, a private club, a 2-story 2,000 sq. ft. fitness center, and an on-site Starbucks store, this signature “Marriott Elite” hotel is sure to become a top destination hotel on the west coast. Destination location for future visitors to the Great Park and Spectrum Entertainment Center
Starting this week and anticipating completion by early October 2017, the Irvine Spectrum Marriott Hotel project by R.D. Olson will consist of site grading including over-excavation of at least 13 feet of existing ground for the mat foundation to support of the 15-story Tower. As a cost-saving and “green” feature, the existing parking lot paving was pulverized and will be recycled for use as parking lot base for support of the new asphalt parking lot and drives.
GMU provided geotechnical design services, including an investigation consisting of hollow-stem auger borings and CPT (Cone Penetrometer Test) soundings to evaluate the subsurface soils for seismic hazard or settlement potential. We also provided design input and plan review services. During construction, GMU will be providing geotechnical observation and testing, as we did on the 8-story Marriott Courtyard Hotel next door. We are proud to be a part of the continued success of the R.D. Olson team.
