Matt has over 20 years of experience in engineering consulting ranging from field work to managing GMU’s in-house laboratory to managing projects. Matt leads GMU’s structural engineering division performing structural design for all types of earth retaining structures, park structures, and public works drainage structures. Matt’s experience in both geotechnical and structural engineering puts him in a unique position to be able to provide both the geotechnical engineering as well as the structural engineering on a project (i.e., geo-structural engineering) providing the client a high quality, cost-efficient, “one-stop-shop” design.
Matt’s structural and geo-structural design experience includes: MSE walls, cantilevered retaining walls, (masonry and concrete), gravity walls, slope stabilization designs (caissons, tie-backs, and soil nails), temporary and permanent shoring, dock designs, landscape structures (all kinds), slab designs, monument sign designs, light pole designs, scoreboard footings and columns, trellis and shade structure designs, storm drain dissipation structures, spillways, headwalls, etc.
